Many people love the look of a traditional log cabin. They associate this type of structure with getting back to nature and escaping the big city. However, the reality is that many log homes are used less as vacation homes and more as primary homes. They can be found in every landscape from rural to urban. Modular log homes are gaining in popularity because they are affordable and convenient. It is important not to confuse modular and mobile homes, as there are some distinct differences between the two.

A modular home is fabricated in sections. These sections are manufactured in a factory and tested for quality. The sections are never exposed to inclement weather and remain protected until they arrive at your property. Once there, they are joined together on a foundation by a building crew. This is different from a mobile home which is transported to your site fully constructed. Modular homes are far more affordable than traditional homes, and take a lot less time to build. They are available in every imaginable home style including log cabin.

You could pick vinyl siding which gives the appearance of wood or choose the genuine article. Many people who dream of living in an updated version of a log cabin wouldn't dream of settling for anything other than real wood. The great thing about modular homes is that they look just like traditional homes built on site but are much less expensive and often more energy efficient as well. You can visit your local modular home dealer to view sample homes and look at the various plans available. The financing for a modular home is basically the same as financing for a traditional home. You can get a mortgage loan for a certain term. Many modular home manufacturers handle their own financing or have a particular mortgage broker they recommend. You will find a variety of financing options when it comes to purchasing a modular home.
